Careers AdviceĀ for the Sixth Form

There is plenty of Careers guidance,advice and support for Sixth form students during both years 12 and 13 delivered by Mr Chris Davis the School Careers Adviser.

Careers guidance interviews

In Year 13 every student will receive a one to one guidance interview with Mr. Davis to discuss their post 18 options.

In Year 12 guidance interviews are offered by Mr. Davis on a self-referralĀ  basis.

Careers guidance interviews in Years 12 and 13 can involve discussing any of the following:-

-Choosing a Degree and how to research them

-The UCAS application process

-Individual help with Personal statements

-Study abroad

-Taking a Gap year

-Employment and Apprenticeship options

-Volunteering and Work experience

-Mock interview practice for University or Employment

-Help deciding on Career aspirations

-Advice and help with CVs and application forms

In Spring term there are mini Degree information sessions for year 12 students to sign up for during tutorials covering the following topics:-

Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science

Introduction to Oxbridge

Nursing and Midwifery

Primary and Secondary Teaching

Law

Criminology, Psychology and Sociology

PE and Sport

Accounting and Business

Biological Sciences

Engineering

Talks and Visits for Year 12

Introductory talk from a University at the start of sixth form

Visit to a UCAS HE Fair

Visits to any Health professions workshops and any Employer information sessions

Talk on apprenticeships

Talks and Visits for year 13

University talk on the application and Personal statement

Focus on Employment/Apprenticeship preparation

Visit to Careers live Apprenticeship fair at the NEC
