Welcome to The Inclusion Department

“If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.”
Ignacio Estrada

The Inclusion Department provides assistance for students with additional needs, across all key stages, to enable them to access the curriculum and realise their full potential.  Our team comprises a SENCO, Head of Inclusion, four Inclusion Managers and ten Teaching Assistants.  We have specialist knowledge in all four main areas of need:

· Communication and interaction;

· Cognition and learning;

· Social, emotional and mental health;

· Sensory and physical.

Additionally, we also support pupils for whom English is not their first language.

All of our many interventions are varied and bespoke and, where necessary, students may also receive additional support from specialist staff.

The Inclusion Department is situated at the heart of the school in “The Base.”  It is our aim to provide a warm, friendly and inclusive environment.  We are open and staffed at lunchtimes to support all students within the school with homework, coursework, revision or even just a reassuring chat.

We also provide support for students taking examinations which may be in the form of scribes (writers), readers, and transcriptions.

For more information on our work and procedures please refer to the school’s local offer here.
